🥗 NYC favorite lands in Clarendon
Westville, a longtime New York staple known for veggie-forward comfort food and brunch, opens its first location outside the NYC area in Clarendon on July 14. Expect simple, satisfying plates like sweet potato fries, grilled salmon, and turkey burgers—plus a full bar and weekend brunch. Westville is already open for takeout if you don’t want to wait!

🍕A Modo Mio ranks among top pizzerias
Local favorite A Modo Mio landed at No. 32 on 50 Top Pizza’s list of best pizzerias in America for 2025. One of our go-to spots for pizza, it now shares the spotlight with icons from NYC, LA and beyond.

🍰 New bakeries bring bold flavors 
Six sweet new spots have opened across Arlington and NoVA. Highlights include kimchi croquettes at Tous les Jours, matcha conchas at Cafecito, and wild blueberry caramel lattes at Maman. Bonus: high tea meets Thai at Flore Café’s new Amalfi Summer theme.

🦞 Seafood takes center stage at Water Bar 
National Landing’s Water Bar just dropped a new summer menu with playful seafood-forward dishes like crispy shrimp, lobster mac and cheese, and a spicy crawfish and shrimp dip. Located at Water Park, it’s open daily for lunch and dinner on Crystal Drive.

🎆 Fairlington brought the fun this Fourth 
Neighbors gathered for the annual Fairlington Fourth of July Parade and Celebration with festive outfits, music, free hot dogs and ice cream. The day also featured the 20th annual bake sale, raising funds for the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

📞 AI helped manage 911 overflow 
Arlington used artificial intelligence to handle non-emergency calls over the July 4 holiday, the department’s busiest day of the year. Officials said the AI system had already saved over 800 hours by shortening call times and reducing dispatcher workload.

👑 Miss Arlington wins Miss Virginia crown
Madison Whitbeck, this year’s Miss Arlington, took home the Miss Virginia 2025 crown last week along with $22,500 in scholarships. The Belmont University sophomore from Leesburg plans to use her title to advocate for arts education across the state—and she’ll represent Virginia at Miss America this fall in Orlando.

🏫 Parents push back on Title I loss 
Abingdon and Hoffman Boston elementary schools will lose their Title I status this fall, sparking concern from parents about cuts to staff, field trip access and summer programs. APS has not yet commented on the change.
